Da-da-da-da (to the tune of Jeopardy)

I watched the movie "Julie/Julia" last night and it made me wish I'd kept blogging this past year. I've certainly had lots I could have said. My problem is that I'm somewhat of a perfectionist and I make simple post become way too time consuming.
I'm on overwhelm right now and am hoping blogging about it will give me psychological rest.
My husband and I bought a retirement home and we decided to try and sell our current residence as we weren't sure how long it would take to sell. We decluttered, rented a uhaul, and drove to our new place for at little R&R over the Fourth of July. The aftermath of Hurrican Alex was threatening but we managed to get away before the clouds opened up. While playing golf 2 days later, we received a call from our realtor that water was leaking in one of our bedrooms. "Are you freakin' kidding me?" was all I could think. We called our friends who investigated it and everyone came to the conclusion that somehow gusting winds were responsible. Note to self: might want to blog about my hour or so spent in the attic trying to find how the water entered.
While driving home, our realtor called to inform us that we had 2 offers on the house. Wow! We sure didn't expect that. One was a great offer, but contingent on backyard space availability for a pool. The other was a low-ball offer. Both fell through, but within another week we had 2 more offers. One of those fell through (again, due to pool space) and the other is currently in the works. However, it's somewhat contingent on the appraisal being equal or above the sale price.
The appraisal was completed last Wednesday and we've still not heard anything (it's Mon. 1PM). The kicker is that we're supposed to close this Friday, Aug.6th. Therefore, I'm blogging to destress. I've got lots more to say but I'm going to head to my friend's pool and "attempt" to relax. More later . . .

Just wanting to vent, sort of -

Just found out the sex of my son and daughter-in-law's baby, due May 30th. They are having a girl and she will be our 5th granddaughter. So far, we have no grandsons. I'm feeling bad because I'm not high-five'n anybody and everybody I know about the news. I know I would be, had it been a boy, so now I'm feeling guilty about that. Why am I not just as excited about it being a girl?

I think it's because it's my first born's child, and I know he wanted it to be a boy. What guy doesn't want a boy? I just wish every guy could have a boy right away since it seems to be so important to them. I'm pretty sure my son and daughter-in-law plan on having more than one child. There's always next time, right?

I don't think so. I have 2 sisters and 2 brothers. My sisters each had 3 girls before a boy arrived for one of them. One of my brother's had 2 boys, and the other never married. Out of 6 nieces, they have given birth to 10 girls, 5 boys. Nephew's count is as follows: 1 married w/o children, 1 not married with a daughter, one not married, 0 children.

That's just my side of the family. My husband has one sister and a brother. His sister had 1 boy, and 2 girls. His brother had 2 girls. His nehphew and niece have boys.

So I'm just thinking that the chances of my son ever having a boy are slim to none. And knowing how badly he'd like to have one, that makes me sad.
