Sleepless in Sugar Land

I am SO tired of waking up every night. This is even worse than when I had a newborn. Mine only woke up once, and then again early in the morning. I, on the other hand, wake up sometimes 4-5 times a night. Many times it's just to go potty, where I stagger into the john and hope the seat is down. Sometimes, I just need a drink of water - especially noticeable on wine or toddy nights. I've gotten better at remembering to leave water on the nightstand. But then I drink the water, and the next wake-up is definitely a potty trip.
I guess I should be thankful that the potty is not that far from my bed. Growing up, we lived in a Cape Cod style home where the upstairs was a dormer type bedroom - with NO potty. I don't remember it to be a problem, except when we got sick. OMG - my poor mother having to clean that up. Maybe that's why I always told my own kids to just upchuck in the bed. Then all I had to do was wash the sheets - or throw them away. Now, when I go back to my homestead, although I'd love to stay in that upstairs dormer for nostalgia(sp?) purposes, I choose the downstairs bedroom because it's near the potty.
Sometimes I take Tylenol PM. I usually don't notice it kicking in right away, but there are times when I wake up WAY later than usual, thinking, "Whoa - I did I really just sleep til 7:30 - 8:00AM? What's crazy about that is I'm now able to sleep until whenever I want - but I can't! I mean, I'm lucky if I make it to 6:30AM. It's SO annoying!
